Sounds like exciting game or games coming up.
I like that. Something that could be very very good.
Thanks Steve and your team.

Best to you,

Glad you are interested in the game Gerold
i wont be playing for the Hiarcs Team or for the CCC/CTF team
all i have are old dedicated chess computers so the chances of my computers suggesting a move that is actually played are zip.. zilch..

I don't find such Rybka versus Rybka games interesting :(

Matthias.
I suspect if you use only Rybka you will lose - the Hiarcs team has some titled players in it.
It seems you are ignoring the results of this poll:
http://www.talkchess.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28859
The poll results suggest that even titled players cannot upset Rybka.

.
I don't consider that poll relevant. As for the game, unless a sensible dictator is selected to make the final choice on all move for the CCC/CTF side the Hiarcs team will win easily.

Unfortunately, the CCC/CTF has too many dictators
(and I don't mean the mods).

Maybe the participants should post here
1) which hardware they have.
2) which Rybka version they will use.

.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

well i can tell you how the moves are determined by the Hiarcs team
as i have watched the team play its games against other opponents including a team from the Rybka forum(which also used the same method to determine moves)
the move is chosen by vote
a Captain and Alternate Captain are named for the team
members vote for a move and the move with the most votes is played

it is the Captains job to count up the votes ,determine the winning vote and post that move (within the time limit) in the official game thread which will be in the Hiarcs Forum

a thread would be created here to discuss the next move to be played
another thread for members to vote for the move
and a third thread with the current game position and moves played so far

in all of the games i have watched ..a strong move is always chosen because players will try to defend their move choice by posting engine analysis and discussing the merits of their ideas and perhaps showing the weakness in other move choices
however a player on the team need not provide analysis and can just vote for a move based upon what he has seen discussed

each move becomes a lively and interesting discussion and it can be quite interesting to take part

I have not touched my Mephisto MM V for 5 years.
Long ago, I used to let BigLion crush it.

Matthias.

I predict a long drawn out draw.
so your saying that chess at the correspondence level (48 hours per move) has been solved and should always result in a dull lifeless draw?

Steve
Solved enough, to know how to keep it lifeless.
