Game: Point Grab. Two-player simultaneous moving. Each player has the same set of actions available. Two special actions A and B exist: if your player chooses one of those and the opposing player does not choose the identical action, you get 5 points. All other possibilities earn 0 points. The game stops when at least one player reaches 100 points.

CadiaPlayer: 405
Ethos: 340

In Heat A, a big upset as CadiaPlayer loses the tiebreak against FluxPlayer and is sent to the Consolation round instead of the finals!

Part II of the tournament:

Round 1: Sudoku

Each player places digits, and when the 9x9 grid is full, the player earns points for each correct row, column, and 3x3 block.

Round 2:

Connected graph where mouse can hop from one square to another. One play hops around the graph and tries to reach a hole to escape (and win). The other player places traps on places that has no holes, and wins if the mouse is caught by a trap. If both players do not succeed, then neither player gets any points!

Round 3: Four War Battle

6x6 grid, one team has checkers on b1, c2, d2, e1 and kings on c1 and d1. Other 3 players mirror layout. Kings move all directions, checkers moves only 4-ways. I missed the capturing rules (complicated, because everyone moves simultaneously!)

Round 5: Pawn Race

Two players, alternating moves. 8x8 chessboard, pawns only. No en passant. First to promote wins, or draw if pawns lock up and no one can move. The TD could not recall whether it was a draw or loss for the player on move if they could not move but their opponent still had a legal move.

Round 6: Capture Count

8x8 checkerboard.

Black checkers: b1, c2, d2, e2, f2, g1, and mirrored on the a- and b-files. Kings on c1-f1 and a3-a6. White symmetrical on the other two sides of the board.

Checker moves 4-way, kings 8-way. Or, can select on a turn to defend a square that has one of your pieces on it. (Moves are simultaneous.)

Captures are worth 10 points, as are defending against attempted captured (in either case, loser's checker disappears). If both players move to the same square, both checkers disappear, no points awarded. Game ends when one side gets 100 points, or if 30 turns occur without either team reaching 100 points.

Thanks for reporting these results. Interesting indeed. Where did you find them? I note that the competition page hasn't been updated for a while, no results or anything there.
