Re: Weird WCRCC game
After Nxe5 it only takes 4 ply to see that f4 wins a pawn (Nd3 Nxd3 exd3 Qxd3). It has nothing to do with kingsafety, it's a simple pawn fork.Daniel Shawul wrote:I saw it live and I was sure sjeng blundered with a delicate positon where king safety dominates. Well if it is not reproducible then it could be one of those case where HT and mulit processor search produce unreproducible moves..
It's something I would have expected a 19 ply search to see. It played Nxe5 with a +0.4 score (at 19 ply). After f4 the score dropped almost 2 pawns to -1.4 at ply 3.
I can't actually imagine how this can have happened.

That's an easy one.

Re: Weird WCRCC game
I only expressed what i felt when i saw the game live. Now that I looked into the pgn, I agree with the blunder at move 19 but it seems Nxe5 is reasonable after that. Scorpio thinks Nxe5 is not that bad.

Re: Weird WCRCC game
The score difference from Sjeng is bigger, it doesn't like Nxe5 (about -0.6 for exf3 and -1.2 for Nxe5).Daniel Shawul wrote:I only expressed what i felt when i saw the game live. Now that I looked into the pgn, I agree with the blunder at move 19 but it seems Nxe5 is reasonable after that. Scorpio thinks Nxe5 is not that bad.
I've got a nagging feeling about what the problem could have been, though.

Then Joker was so stupid to trade the like Bishops. It was convinced the KBPPPKNPPP was a dear draw, which it probably initially was. But in stead of repeating moves in manouevred in a strange way with its Knight, and was then faced with a deadly zugzwang that it did not see coming at all. Joker was searching 28 ply in these positions, against Baron ~16. (Score dropping from 0 to -4 when it becme the root position.) Strange thing is that Joker is not supposed to do null move with only a Knight. So no idea what caused the blindness, it must be a severe bug.

Zugzwang for Joker came as a lightning bolt
Because of the zugzwang Joker had to give the Knight, and the resulting KBPPKPPP was of course totally won for the Baron. I think Baron went to +14 and Joker to -12. Joker played on, and an incredible blunder by the Baron let Joker's last Pawn promote. I am very curious if Richard can figure out what caused this. After that the KBPKQ looked tricky, because the Pawn is on the 7th defended by the Bishop (and Joker has no EGTB and zero end-game knowledge). But Joker was able to find the win.

Baron plays Kf5??? in stead of exf4!
So never despair and never resign. Even when you are at -12 with only one Pawn left, it is still possible to win the game.
Deuterium is a little bit lucky also, that is in the 3rd round opposite diep.

diep-deuterium (black to play)
A resulting position from a poisoned pawn, sicilian. diep completely dominates the board after giving up 3 pawns!! Is it?, yes it is.
Got to review this opening clearly

How your favorite engines react at this? In the game, deuterium played Ne7 after thinking only 6 seconds? ->probably a defective pondering system which I revised later in the 2nd day of the tourney. Letting deuterium analyze this as starting position, it likes Re7 (+0.87) still a positive score which I don't like

The game continued with diep converting its space, mobility and king attack threats advantages to a winning position... glad resign option in deuterium has no bug

diep-deuterium (white to play)
diep moves its pawn... full, deuterium takes it by ep of course, it's a draw

Hope vincent fixes this.

Yeah great performance by DS. I was wondering if this was the cluster version and thus maybe some bugs can creep in. Otherwise what a fantastic performance by DS and look forward for the new version. Will there be a cluster version in DS? When do you expect the latest release to come out?

No, this was an 8 core box.M ANSARI wrote: Yeah great performance by DS. I was wondering if this was the cluster version and thus maybe some bugs can creep in.
I didn't want to use the cluster version because I couldn't attend during the tournament. If it had crashed and burned in a game we would have lost all following ones because there would have been no-one to restart it. Not a risk I'm willing to take at the current state of things.
The plan is to release the cluster version publicly but I have no idea when there will be a next release.Otherwise what a fantastic performance by DS and look forward for the new version. Will there be a cluster version in DS? When do you expect the latest release to come out?

Re: Weird WCRCC game
Release it Today
This version from DP(8cores) can already draw against the new Rybka Cluster (56cores)!!
So Deepsjeng will take over the first place from Rybka 3 now, and later you bring out the Cluster when rybka's cluster come out.
I'am dreaming...but still...
Congrats with the great performance!!
