So it's about in Onno's league? Pretty good.... Now let's see who gets SMP support first! :P

Hm, I wonder how you guys get such good results for my little Critter. In my tests it performs _much_ worse :(

I was thinking an x64 version of Critter 0.42 or next release.
Is this in future plans?

Best,
0.42 was written in Delphi and it does not support x64 yet. Since then I moved to C/C++, the next release will have both win32 and x64 binaries. It is almost ready, just needs some tuning.

Thank you, Richard. I am testing mostly x64 engines. Both
next versions of your engine will be tested for comparison purposes.

Thanks, Swami.

As soon as I buy a new box, I'll post more frequently.
I am undecided up to now, which box should I get?
Better quad than Q6600; a 8x or 2xquad; or 16x.

Best,
16x if you can afford. That one is obviously better, no?

I am not sure.

Some cons:

Still very few people use 16x.
If I need technical help, I'll probably not get here in Antalya.

The number of engines that supports 16x are not many.
Some supports up to 4 cores, some up to 8.

I havent see an 16x on comp stores.
That means I should build one for myself.
This could cause compatibility problems.

Some pros:

I may organize 2 - 8 simultaneous tests.

The speed will sure make me happy.

What is the price range for 8x and 16x?
Should I buy two 8x or 4 quads instead of one 16x?
Dont think that Xeons or Crays are an option?

I tend to agree. Or a quad (faster than Q6600) + an octal.
I must calculate the resulting sums in my budget.
What are your predictions? :)
