I did not see Vasik claim something negative against stockfish.
He never claimed that stockfish has rybka's code and I guess he is not going to do it even if stockfish become better than rybka3 after Dann Corbit's changes(I do not know if this is the case).

I disagree with the name "Vas followers" for the people you mention.
I did not read a single post by Vas when he claimed it.
If Rybka forum is going to forbid the name stockfish in their forum or if Vas claims that stockfish is illegal then you may have a point but it did not happen.

I agree. I wish people would stop thinking that every strong new engine that comes out is based on Rybka .
That is also my wish. I get the impression that some people who "suddenly" see a "new strong engine" appearing are ignoring that the predecessor of Stockfish, Glaurung by Tord Romstad, was already a very strong engine with completely original source code. Claiming anything different from that would be a slap in the face for Tord. The improvements of Stockfish over Glaurung are significant indeed but nevertheless we are talking about improvements on an already-world-class level.
Also I propose to have a precise look at rating lists like CCRL, there everyone can read about the playing strength of various Glaurung and Stockfish versions.
Finally, as far as I remember a major part of the Stockfish development had already started long before IP* sources appeared on the net. And (Glaurung and) Stockfish sources are 100% transparent.

Yeah - it's in poor taste to start mudslinging at Stockfish. Marco, Joona and Tord were already making noticeable gains well before the Rybka (Robber) code was published.

First Marco released a 100 elo strong version, than Dan make a 150 elo stronger Stockfish, with just a tip of their fingers....

The magic is in the original design of Glaurung! When there is a solid base from which to work, improvements are easier to come by and worth more. Add 250 points of improvements to a poorly designed and/or buggy program and improvement is hard to come by.
