Hmm, I see an OwnBook option, but no book download on the site, and nothing like that looks like an opening book name in the list of strings. I wonder if it's a prematurely announced feature.

I played a couple games. It is pretty strong.

Is this the correct engine?

Naraku112.exe 16.08.2010 152.576 13:23
Naraku 1.1 by Miroku79 (www.miroku79.info/blog)

...I get not so good results. Fruit 2.1 has 86% in 10 games at the moment.

Did I download the wrong version? Do you have another link?

That is the latest version. I don't think he made any claim that it was as strong as Fruit, just that it was "strong". The author says 2720 ELO, which is lower than Fruit 2.1's rating of 2790 in the CCRL, so your preliminary results aren't completely out of line if we go by that scale. In my own very limited testing so far, it beat Alaric 707 3 times with no loss, and was +1-3=2 against Spike 1.2.

No offence, but I'm not sure that I'd trust your endorsement considering your close affiliation with recent questionable engines.
I'll wait to see what others have to say.

It beat Fruit one game and lost the next two. I haven't had time to
test it again.

I have made 2 testmatches with different results:

40 Züge in 4 min 2010 (CEGT blitz)

Code: Select all

1 Naraku 1.12 1111111110 9.0/10
2 Redqueen 0.6 x64 1CPU 0000000001 1.0/10
Game 1 was lost in time from Redqueen in a draw position. Most other games ended before first time control!

40 Züge in 20 min 2010 (CEGT time control)

1 Fruit 2.1 +36/-2/=12 84.00% 42.0/50
2 Naraku 1.12 +2/-36/=12 16.00% 8.0/50 -288!!
(around 2440)
