Hi,

You can use Auto-Turbo mode. This might oversee shorter mates if those parameters have higher values for KXP. There are some problems where this happens, I do not think this is the case here.

The solution was to change the search order to XPK. According to what I was able to read on the other forum, that searched first for a solution in which the defender's replies were limited (much as MaxMoves=1) does. Again, it took less than a second.

I would imagine that reading the English.txt file would be a good idea, since the parameters need to be understood in order to use this engine to its maximum advantage.

Hi Michael,

do you still have more new mate problems?

It's quite a long time since you've sent me any new mate problems from your WinChloe updates ...

Franz

Hi Franz,

just too few long mates and most I have tried were already in your database. There are some long helpmates however, maybe I should send you those. Lots of stuff to do but I will do my best...

Ok Michael,

you can certainly remember that I'm not a big friend of self/help-mates, so don't waste any time with collecting such stuff for me.
I'm only interested in usual (longer) mates, but you're right: such mates are very hard to find anywhere in the last time.

Franz

of course, mate solve programs are find it faster, because they dont use a huge eval function, only looking for mates.

you cant compare this with normal chess playing engines, because the evalution function need to much time to find this, and they dont find anytime the shortest solution of mate.

I was hoping Given enough time, Fritz32 would find the mate. No luck. After 13 hours, nothing at all.
