after my message in the thread to the Houdini 1.5 x64 test I made some statistics to the claim differents visistors oft my rating list wrote me.
I made some analyzes from the Houdini 1.5 x64 - Rybka 4 Exp. 61 games I have so far.
This two engines are playing completly different chess.
1. Houdini switched more knights / bishops in the middlegame or try to switch as the aggressive Rybka Exp. 61 setting.
2. Rybka is playing much more aggressive with pawns. Also good to see in the main line ... speaking from the middlegame ... pawn moves contrary to the own castling.
3. Houdini forced more open lines for rocks and give for it (sacrificed, hope the right word) more often a pawn as Rybka.
4. Houdini hold the queen longer in the game. I would like to say that Houdini is playing rattiest with rocks / queen. Rybka are more rattiest with bishops and knights.
5. Houdini have a more active playing style after the book moves. But here all Rybka versions are more or less passiv if I compare it with other strong engines.
All this I saw if I load Houdini 1.5 x64 and Rybka 4 Exp. 61 as analyze engine under ChessBase GUI. Very different, each of the main lines are to different.
I think it's pure random that Houdini 1.03a to Houdini 1.5 is 55 ELO stronger and Rybka 4 default to Rybka 4 Exp. 62 is perhaps 40-55 ELO stronger too.
Each one can make such statistics in own work. After the Rybka 4 Exp. 61 round robin I will load the games with Shredder GUI comments on my webpage too.
after the test of Exp. 42 now the test of Exp. 61.
Have a look in actual SWCR ratings (link, Ratings, actual situation or in the still running test of Exp. 61 on my webpage, links in front of the start page).

Exp. 61 lost around 10 points in the latest 100 games. But after the results in the matches itself it can be possible that the rating will goes up after 500 games.
yes, completly other results Houdini 1.5 has. Completly other playing style as Houdini 1.5. And very interesting results this Rybka Exp. 61 setting produced.
Have a look in the results vs. Spark too!
The very strong tactical engines Spark and Stockfish have great results. But this one is clear because this aggressive Rybka setting have tactical holes.
But its clear too that the Exp. settings produced a lot of more points vs. weaker engines. And this is the reason that the Exp. Settings are so strong if you test it vs. many other engines.
Very, very interesting.
A good correspondence chess analyse combination on Quad Core with 1 core per engine could be ...
