Hi Pal

I doubt, that the split depth parameter of houdini does have an effect when using one cpu. Split depth is a SMP parameter I think.
Anyway: Good luck for the mega match :-)

Kind regards, Clemens

Houdini 1.5 v Komodo 3 at long time control

Post by PawnStormZ »

Hi Clemens.    Yes, I thought so, but since I had that setting before in the match with Rybka 4 I decided to leave it alone.  I will enter another bunch of games tomorrow until I catch up to where they are now (game 26, Houdini leading 15 to 10 in points +7 =16 -2).

           Take care

Great match but a pity that you don't use the standard PGN-format. Please bear in mind that not all people have ChessBase installed on their computer.

Kurt,

not only game moves interest me. Depth, eval and time management are very important too.
There are many tools that you can use to strip pgn files of comments.
Even ChessGUI can do it.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Hello Pal,

Thanks again for these long timecontrol games.

The number of draws so far tells a story in itself - Komodo is coming!

Later.

Kurt,

not only game moves interest me. Depth, eval and time management are very important too.
There are many tools that you can use to strip pgn files of comments.
Even ChessGUI can do it.

Matthias.
the program can save the information you want (depth, eval, time) into classic PGN without polluting the PGN view with this nonsense chessbase
EMT shit.

the EMT stuff is to be meant FOR MACHINES. humans do not need this kind of view, they study chess games in a more optimized view like:

Hi Pal,

I'm a little confused, are engines using 1 core or 4 cores? I suppose 1 core, due to the ponder ON option ...

Thanks for the games (although I prefer the standard PGN notation too).

ChessGUI users can convert the pgn from new to old ChessBase format (standard PGN notation).

If Pal would use pgn openings or ChessGUI book instead of epd, his games could be used for opening books.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.
