It's too late to release Deep Rybka 5 now in my opinion. Other programs like Houdini 3 and the next version of Critter and Vitruvius will already surpass Deep Rybka 5 in playing strength.

I think Timo is right! And as far as I remember I believe it was Lukas Cimiotti who said a couple of months ago that Vas would focus on increasing Rybka's ELO, making it thus very strong on a single core... Just imagine on a multi-core system what Deep Rybka 5 would be capable of! (Probably the Rybka Cluster renting didn't prove to be inspired after all). Even Larry Kaufmann said, and I hope I'm not wrong, that he was sure Vas could make a Rybka way much stronger than Komodo at any time. I think Houdini's 3 era has come to an end even if it will be released in half a year! All the best!
P.S. My statement brought fireworks, right?

The latest public version of Rybka, Deep Rybka 4.1, was not such a big improvement over Deep Rybka 4.0 in playing strength. Deep Rybka 4.1 still makes the same mistakes as Deep Rybka 4.0 in certain types of positions.

If Deep Rybka 5 is going to have the same gap in playing strength as Deep Rybka 4.1 has to Deep Rybka 4.0 then Deep Rybka 5 is going to be a disappointment.

5-4.1>4.1-4 and there is a reason 4.1 is called 4.1 because it is basically 4.
There was no reason to expect playing strength improvement from 4 to 4.1
