It's not so much that white played bad moves where you indicate; it's that black, going against the most popular moves, found superior choices available. E.g. 12...Rg8 is far better than the more often seen 12...Bg7 and 13...f4 is far better than the more often seen 13...Rc8 and 13...h6.
What's hard to fathom is 15.c5, which is a clear blunder. 15.cxb5 was the only play there. Houdini rates the position after cxb5 0.00 versus being down about a pawn after c5.
