Yes, that is what I meant to say.
If you are not explicit you usually put forth a wrong idea. Most of the time when the Stockfish results are reported it's done correctly and they will say we are doing well against Houdini 3 but other times people will say that SF is likely the new number one and other such misleading things.

Capital punishment would be more effective as a preventive measure if it were administered prior to the crime.

Well if just for your semantic objections I will precise:Don wrote:Stockfish and Komodo are not on par. Stockfish and the RELEASE version of Stockfish are almost on par - and people have been talking about Stockfish catching Houdini for months now because they only consider the development version of Stockfish - and compare it against a 1 year old version of Houdini.beram wrote:First, it has to become first.Laskos wrote:Beautiful game.JuLieN wrote:It's probably the best game since the beginning of the tournament.Although Critter's was nice too.
Based on the games played by Clemens Keck, and counting that Komodo dev is even stronger that that version, it seems that Komodo will be the new nTCEC champion, in fact the true new World Champion. The Stage 4 will have 6 engines in sextuple RR, 90 games total, each engine 30 games, for 2 engines to qualify to the Superfinal. The Superfinal will have 48 games. Little possibility of too much luck. Let's see, I would bet on Komodo, but who knows.
Second, there are three good candidates
Third, there are 3Champs
The difference between Houdini and Stockfish has become smaller
And Stockfish and Komodo are on par. See for instance this LTC result 50-50 from Rybka forum http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforu ... 27448;pg=4

You don't even know if the difference between Stockfish and Houdini has become smaller - although I would assume that is likely - it's just speculation.
Komodo has made amazing progress since the 5.2 release - much of it just in the last 4 weeks or so.
Stockfish 4 and later versions are on par with Komodo 5.1r2
The difference between Stockfish 4 and Stockfish 3 is huge and there are already match testresults which have shown wins of Stockfish 4 over Houdini 3
I hope you are now satisfied, but I can also add that you are a great programmer and Komodo 51 development version is (perhaps) the best engine...on ELTC

I think it's important to be relatively precise about statements like this because in reality we are all aiming at moving targets and it's just not accurate to pretend otherwise.beram wrote:Well if just for your semantic objections I will precise:Don wrote:Stockfish and Komodo are not on par. Stockfish has indeed made amazing progress and I am a big fan of this program.
