I haven't had computer time available to test the elo gain from 9.2, but I will shortly. I expect it is in the 10 to 15 range or so.JJJ wrote:How strong is the Komodo who will play the final Larry plz ?

Larry, it seems Synapse surpassed both Komodo and Stockfish ( according to its authors list http://www.synapse-chess.com/test-synapse-rz4-8-series/ ) and if it continues to be developed, I see it as a very serious favorite to win the next TCEC Season if it will participate, of course. Best regards!

Someone told me that synapse was just a clone of a recent Komodo version, based on showing the same pv and nodes at the same depth in the opening position, but I don't recall the source. Perhaps it's been modified since then. If anyone has any synapse version it's pretty easy to tell whether it's more or less a Komodo clone, just run it to fixed depth on single core on various positions and see if the PVs and times are fairly close. It could have been modified of course.FriedmannC wrote:Larry, it seems Synapse surpassed both Komodo and Stockfish ( according to its authors list http://www.synapse-chess.com/test-synapse-rz4-8-series/ ) and if it continues to be developed, I see it as a very serious favorite to win the next TCEC Season if it will participate, of course. They did not test it against latest stockfish but against stockfish of 5.10 and stockfish improved in the last month.

They don't promise to give it to any titled player, and I doubt they would give it to one who was looking for evidence of fraud. Anyway, I don't want to waste time on this, unless some respected tester reports that it is both strong and not a likely clone of Komodo (or stockfish), or unless we need to pursue legal action.

Indeed, a "no comment" is the best answer to Uri, whom I have seen better inspired...lkaufman wrote:
