Any engine that supports setting up positions should be usable to do an EPD test suite under WinBoard.

As I told Adam, it works under Arena, but analyzes the positions without posting any analysis until it reaches depth 8 (takes an average of 30 seconds approx. depending of the position), so if I want to give 10 sec/pos will find few or no solutions.

Michael Byrne was not able to build a working Macintosh compile- too many errors.

It works on Arena 3.5.1 with Windows 7 SP1 64-bit - just download

Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4

Spanish edition is here: https://www.microsoft.com/es-ES/downloa ... x?id=30679

Older engines cf. the French website http://lefouduroi.pagesperso-orange.fr/ ... ui/sui.htm

I use version 4.6.2 because it is more stable (or more permissive with some engines) than other versions I tried. I believe this version does not support what you are saying. Which version that runs on Windows 7 can do this?

On the other hand, as Matthew said many weak engines do not support setboard or setting up positions.

Adam and Norbert:

I was using Arena 3.0 at my home PC and Pigeon did not work as I wanted, but I installed 3.5.1 and it works fine. Thanks guys :!:
I did test it at my work PC with Arena 3.5.1, not sure what settings I used that I could not make it work as intended.

Also thanks to Eric, TarraschToy 0.906 works fine on Arena 3.5.1 too.

Andrew, I am looking forward to your Ethereal engine. Thanks.
