"The actual time taken per move (about 100 ms) was I believe due to a deliberate delay chess.com uses to give the impression of non-instant play."
I was thinking about this recently. Anyone should want that delay - there is nothing more irritating than it being your move immediately after you have moved. Mimicking a real game where you get time to think (rest?) on your opponents move is a more pleasant experience.

I agree, but 100 ms is only enough time to avoid the impression that the two moves were simultaneous, you can't think or rest much in a tenth of a second! Since many people play one minute bullet chess on the servers, there would be complaints about more than a tenth of a second forced delay, I'm afraid. To me that's ridiculous, but then I'm 72 years old, I don't represent the views of teenagers.Cornfed wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 1:12 am "The actual time taken per move (about 100 ms) was I believe due to a deliberate delay chess.com uses to give the impression of non-instant play."
