I see it all the time.
If I want to use 100GB hash with large pages, I usually have to reboot.
Dann,
You may want to give this a try: https://www.wisecleaner.com/wise-memory-optimizer.html
On my 64GB machine the optimization takes less than a minute and it certainly beats rebooting just for this purpose.
I have been using it since ca. 2016 for exactly this purpose.

Thanks, that will be a big help.
I have a zillion services on my machine and booting takes a while.
I run a 3970X like Dann, and I nearly never fail to allocate large pages even after the machine has been up for weeks. I always get a speed up when running with large page support and have 128GB of RAM. Out of curiosity, I ran this memory optimizer. So far it is still running as I write this. I could have rebooted 5 times by now, so I'm not convinced this is better than rebooting at least for my hardware/config. If rebooting is out of the question, for some reason other than the time it takes, perhaps this tool makes sense. Generally the only times I've ever failed to get large pages is when I'm allocating 64GB of hash AND I'm using more than 40GB for other things (which is rare). I've never understood the argument about not supporting large pages because you can only get them for two seconds after windows boots - totally false. That has never been my experience for years even prior to building the 3970X. Granted my old machines, 6 and 11 years old, had 32 and 24GB respectively.

My two cents,
Mike

Update to the prior post. The memory optimizer finally finished. I had 89% free before it started and during the optimization process, it took free memory down well below half. Now that it is done, I have 90% free. So it appears it freed 1% of my memory during the defrag process. I could easily allocate large pages before running it, and now I cannot. I was so excited by this excellent result that I instantly went into control panel and uninstalled the optimizer ;)

YMMV,
Mike.
