Problem is dos machines are often old and slow or emulations.
While windows version running 100% (although only 1 core).

But you can develop a style in CSTal dos and copy the chess.sty file into the windows version and play with the faster windows version.

Btw, if you click on my name (thorsten czub), you see me running upside down.
Thats symbolical what CSTal meant with emulating a human playing , tal like style.
Playing unsound moves.

People said its not possible to make a chess prg that plays human and also like tal, unsound sacs but still good.
But we proved this when cstal won against Chess Genius at the championship.

Funny thing was that we told Ossi and Richard before the game that they will lose the game.
I showed them the autoplayer games. Ossi studied the games (opening lines) took out another Floppy , loaded a different opening book and genius played an opening that was not on my list.
But cstal found a win no matter which opening line.

Hi Thorsten, long time no talk buddy...

That game against Chess Genius was the one with the lovely ...Rxe3 exchange sacrifice, right?

These days such a sac is commonplace, but ppl have to remember that it was on primitive hardware and the decision was probably 90% eval.

I can remember once I played a game as white against Chess System Tal II during an online lesson with one of my students, and he was amazed by the way CSTal refused to castle as black, but instead played ...h5, ...h4, ....hxg3 and tried to attack my fianchetto position instead.

Game ended in CSTal forcing a perpy whilst down a lot materially...I literally looked like the computer and CSTal as the human.

Regarding human-like computer opponents (for HUMANS, not engines), Pawel K and I have been cooperating on a lot of work over the last year, hopefully, it'll see the light soon enough.

Sadly, COVID and personal stuff has delayed our work (my fault mostly), but...

For people who like to play AGAINST engines, it is groundbreaking.

I am always looking forward to it.

Yes the funny thing was that we asked Ossi and Richard why genius gives a fianchetto bishop for the unimportant knight and Ossi said: normally one should not do it, but here it is no problem. Andoves later... It was the end.

I wonder how this corona virus chess plays. Did you ever played against it ?!

Seems to be a CSTal with Multi cores/threads.
