Anyway, any list would have to include Velvet, the engine of the year in 2022, imho.
It is a savage sacker-attacker, while sporting a rating of 3300+ CCRL!! No trading away strength for style here!
Congratz to Martin Honert for creating such a beast!
Yes, but in my full EAS-ratinglist, it can be seen, that the latest version Velvet 5.0.0 lost EAS-points (213205), compared to V4.1.0 (282189). So, I would recommend to use V4.1.0 (plays only -30 Elo weaker than V5.0.0)
Great list, by the way, along with the corresponding tool, Stefan!
The commercial Revenge 1 is also worth getting. Fabio may offer a nice discount if you're already a customer.
I've been testing Velvet 4.1 and Revenge 1 and can vouch for their impressive and eye-popping attacking styles while playing at their FULL strength! No tweaking necessary!
And yes, I stand corrected, Revenge 1.0 is even stronger than Velvet 4.1.

Thank you!
And, by the way, Pedone 3 is a (freeware!) predecessor of Revenge and plays very aggressive, too (NOT Pedone 3.1!!!). And this engine is free and the download includes an Android-version, too, whichs runs fine in DroidFish or other Android GUIs! (Velvet and Revenge do not have an Android version!)
Download Pedone 3:
And Pedone 3 strength can be adjusted for playing as a human against it. Very nice. And I did a huge experimental-test, to measure the strength with different settings: https://www.sp-cc.de/experiments.htm
So, Pedone 3 is a great engine for using it in a smartphone/tablet, connected to an electronical chessboard...

Is that list showing aggression or a tendency to sacrifice?
It is kind of hard to always attack and not sac much. I guess the 'aggression' mentioned here also implies kingside attacks.
I suppose it is important to define aggression in this context, so we know what we mean by it.

The iron fist inside the velvet glove, lol!
OpenTal is only GM strength, others like Zappa DA may be close, but nothing like Velvet to pack such great strength into that style.
Even the private Nezh I'm familiar with is only of human Super-GM/World Champ strength.
100% agree with you mate (How've you been? Long time no talk).
Velvet was a huge surprise for me, playing like Garry Kasparov in his prime, but with zero inaccuracies.
But plz do remember, OpenTal was designed originally as a Rodent personality to play against me....and I'm far weaker than any GM.
I have a feeling Velvet's amazing style was just a "hand of God" moment whilst testing for strength.
Arasan is very aggressive against weaker opponents: it will attack given a chance. But I don't see that side of it much, because it's typically playing against stronger engines on the chess servers, and against them, it doesn't often get those attacking chances.

As Brendan can also tell you, I believe it is against weaker opposition that the true style comes out.
I test for style more so than strength and my tests are usually lopsided: strong beast vs weaker 'cannon fodder' opponent.
