Wilhelm - you'll find that there are other engines that won't run on Ryzens as well.

Capivara, Rodent and FrankWalter immediately spring to mind, and there might be a few others as well.

Yes, you are right Graham, a lot of engines. Crux, Francesca Mad befor 0.15...
Most problem I run into was that the engine is starting but stops during the game. They hang in ram or closed. Most of them run without any problem in a virtuall WinXP machine.
Retro engines need Retro Pc's :D
Ryzen 5900x, 64GB Ram, RTX3080, 2x 2TB SSD, 1x 1TB SSD, 1x 2TB HDD, all custom watercooled, Win10 and Win7 Multiboot, Win98/Windows Millennium/WinXP virtual machines for 16bit

Zappa Mexico II does this.

Hmm, the 32bit version runs with no problem here, it's in my rating list. The x64 give me the error "no protocol supported".

Made a test in Arena-Gui and here the x64 version works. Seems there is a problem with Banksia-Gui too.

Well, try a ponder-on match with the x64 version and it will at some point just stop thinking and lose on time. Not every game, but many. Another user has confirmed the same thing.

I could initialize ZM II x64 in Banksia v0.53! Then it works also in newer versions of Banksia! Very strange.
Now I run a 50 game test against Komodo 1.0 with ponder on. Got no errors. If there is an ini file in the Zappa folder delete it try again (make backup). This was also a prolem with Zappa 1.1.

Result:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# name games wins% draws% losses% score elo + -
1. Komodo 1.0 50 50.0 22.0 28.0 30.5 37 42 41
2. Zappa Mexico II x64 50 28.0 22.0 50.0 19.5 -37 41 42

Cross table:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# name score games 1 2
1. Komodo 1.0 30.5 50 x 30.5
2. Zappa Mexico II x64 19.5 50 19.5 x

Tech:

Tech (average nodes, depths, time/m per move, others per game), counted for computing moves only, ignored moves with zero nodes:
# name nodes/m NPS depth/m time/m moves time

2. Zappa Mexico II x64 4829K 1389663 12.6 3.5 54.2 188.2
