One thing to add here is that the extra piece may mess up the material imbalance system, four bishops with two pair does dot mean 1 pawn due the the pair bonus. The extra pair is redundant and often block or get in the way. It's likely that Dragon may fare better with modest wild material configurations like this experiment. One or two pieces with few extra pawns on the board. Getting too much extra material on the board can cause material collapse somehow as it never happens in practical play.
