Actually, these scripts do belong on the Talkchess server anyway because why create another point of failure on an external server. The only reason why they ended up on HGM's server was that at the time, the necessary access to the Talkchess server was denied - and now that you have that, the scripts can be put on Talkchess.

With http instead of https (as of now) they worked fine.
90% of coding is debugging, the other 10% is writing bugs.

Yes ofc, because if the connection is unsecure anyway, browsers don't mind other unsecure connections. But https should be used. That's the norm these days for good reasons. Not only for login secured sites like this forum, but even for static websites without login: https://doesmysiteneedhttps.com/. That's why e.g. my site runs exclusively over https and redirects plain http to https.

So it's good and necessary that we have https on Talkchess, finally. It's just that we need these two scripts to also work properly, and the best way is to move them to the Talkchess server now that you have the access rights. HGM's server was only meant as bandaid when the admin access for Talkchess was not available.

Dunno but I believe I have read somewhere from HGM in the Help forum probably it was, that as long as Talkchess would be still sharing an account with another domain (website?) there is little point to using https:// And that seems to be still the case, or am I mistaken. So Talkchess has to be moved first to a dedicated server, or its own account, with this or a new provider? Maybe the whole database or old messages would be moved first (but probably not such a good idea) but at least some new features would be very nice, well like Ed has posted several times. There is very little possibilty for diagrams now, with https especially, images, private messages, website searches because of all these limitations, partly to reduce the load on the (shared) account, for ChessUSA comes first.
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Sometimes it really is a big deal, i.e. it can prevent access completely. It just keeps repeating the check and/or the prove-you're-human test.
