Each one against each other, 50 games per match, 820 games per round, 50 x 820 = 41.000 games total or 2.000 games per engine!
I strongly recommend to use my EAS-Tool on the 41.000 games, when the tournament is finished.
2000 games per engine is not very much: Because of the exponential scoring-system of the EAS-Tool, the score needs a lot of won games for a stable result. But the result should be definitly very interesting, even though only 2000 games per engine are played.

Hi Stefan,

feel free to do that with your great tool to the end of the tourney. A lot of tactical power is inside and for sure many nice games will be produced. I hope that the tourney can run without any problems. For the moment all engines runs fine since I started the tourney ... most important for me. Unfortunately, I have since months not many time for computer chess. The tourney will give me energy in my free time and the next months. End of the tourney the winner is Frank Quisinsky and I am full of power.

Many very nice programs are fighting, today I am looking in Willow and Texel for an example. Texel beat Wasp today, very nice game from Texel.

Hi there,

to the end of round 1 I will make the last changes ...

Igel 3.5.0 will be replace the last place.
RubiChess 20230918 will be replace the second last place.

Two of the TOP-15 more in the field.
Looking on EAS ratings by Stefan.
Igel and Rubi are in the middle of the field from EAS and not in TOP-10.

The last Rubi update is very strong, same for rofChade.
So rofChade have two opponents more for fighting for place 1 in the tourney.

Most important for me ... more tactical strenght in the group of engines.

A bit harder for newer TOP engines like Alexandria.
Carp and BlackMarlin are very strong and I am sure Viridithas goes much higer as the current place. Carp seems to be a tactical monster like Velvet, Viridithas and of course Wasp, many others. End of round 1 I am sure I found a nice field for the next 4-5 months the tourney is still running.

Best
Frank

Again, engine updates are possible during round 1 is still running!

Frank Quisinsky wrote: Sat Sep 23, 2023 7:07 am Hi there,

in the next few days I will start a new tournament without using my website for publication.

Results and the games can be found in this thread.
From round to round or maybe each two rounds ... think so!

- without TOP-15 engines (more places for newer engines)
- without longer time not updated TOP-65 engines (examples Xiphos, Nemorino or Combusken).

But if engines will make troubles I will replace with older engines, like Xiphos ...

All are engines in TOP-65 of rating systems.
In the follwoing list can be found version number and date of engine.
Oldest is DanaSah 9.0.

What a wonderful exercise you are doing! Have lots of fun with it. :D

I'm curious to see how your Elo list compares to my STS - MEA calculated using the tool.

Hi there,

now I made the changes I wrote before:

1. Elo-Average set from 3275 to 3300
2. RubiChess 20230918 replaced Mr. Bob 1.2.0
3. Igel 3.5.0 replaced Drofa 4.0.0

Drofa on place 41 after round 1 and Mr. Bob 1.20 on place 40.

---

Unfortunately, I checked the games from round 1.
Rice 7.0 cann't set mate in different positions and games ended with draw after 50 moves (example KR-K).
The problems I found in 3 of 40 games.

I have to replace Rice 7.0 before I start round 2.
Not sure which engine I should use for Rice, at the moment I am thinking about it.

Hi there,

changes done!
No more engine updates possible.

After all, I will do the last two changes!

1. The last place from round 2 I will replace with Caissa current version.
2. The last place from round 3 I will replace with Seer current version.

The Elo differents from place 1 to 41 should be a bit reduced!

:-)

Best
Frank

Note 1:
For Rice 7.0.0 is now Clover 6.0 in the field.

Note 2:
TOP 8: Stockfish, Dragon, Berserk, Ethereal, CSTal, Koivisto, Rebel, LcO are't in the field.
From TOP-55 are the older Nemorino / Xiphos / Laser / Combusken not in the field.
Rice is not in the field (engine problem).

Hi Conor,

thanks for your hint!

I believe I read that last year?!
Maybe I have confused?
Should I make a correction?

Hi Esmeralda,

each year I have in my brain to do more with test-set positions. For more as 20 years we have some interesting dicussions about it in German fora. Today Engines are stronger and stronger and with a good mix from positions after openings / middle and end-game a test-set is all the time interesting. OK, not my main topic, but I collected some years test-set positions from eng-eng games, running on my PCs. Often I am looking if I install a "for me" new engine. Honestly, all the positions I have collected are only with many pieces on board ... my main interest are the openings and attacking chess after.

On weekend I will looking in the thread.
Thanks for your comment.

For that tourney the Elo from Shredder tournament table is enough for me. I will not create all the statistics I made in the past for FCP-Tourney 2020, 2021, 2022 and FCP Rating List.

The tourney I created is more or less for John Stanback and for me for looking in my free time.
A small animation for him, John like my tourneys.

If others have fun with it ... super!
