Hi Modern-Times,

the newer GitHub compiles works fine for me.
Problem solved ... thank you!

So, I think Jim have to compile Reckless 0.8.0 again ... JA isn't fixed!

HINT:
Maybe the same problem PrinChess 0.20.0 JA have.
PrinChess 0.20.0 ... original version works with syzygybases, not the JA version!

Hi,

I tested the version 4.04 (bmi2-clang-pgo) with Arena under windows 11 .
By default the hash table is 128 MB. You can verify by launching it in a terminal, then use the command "v" as "version" :
D:\Echecs\Programmation\BIN\Zangdar\4.04> .\Zangdar-4.04-bmi2-clang-pgo.exe
v
Zangdar 4.04 NNUE networks/768_ob8_hm.bin

Taille d'une entr├®e : 16 octets
Total entr├®es : 8388608
Taille totale : 134217728 134217728 (128) Mo
First test without syzygy tables : found the mate in 10 at depth 36

I can't test with Shredder since I don't have it.

I suspect that it is a Microsoft problem, as I have seen with some engines that the name of the directory for the egtb was not adopted correctly, e.g. "program files" instead of "programme"...etc.

Hi Philippe,

oh, the programmer gave the answere in person.

At first, thanks for your very nice engine!
I like Zangdar a lot, can play complicated Dutch positions with bravour.
A domain from Slow Chess Blitz, you know ... no longer!

:-)

Not the topic ...

That explain all!
Shredder GUI asked after engine start for hash-tables.
For a small test, or blitz games I am using 128Mb, type 128
So, i wonder that GUI crashed, now it's quite clear!

Default by, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 764, 1024 isn't a good idea I think.
Most others uses 0, 1, 4 Mb as default.
Or a default nobody uses, like 7Mb, 13Mb, 127Mb or 129Mb :-)

So, I can never start a automatically blitz tourney (my standard is 128Mb) for all engines.
If Zangdar have to play his first game, tourney stopped if all engines uses 128Mb (40 moves in 4 minutes = 128Mb, or for 40 moves in 8 minutes I like to give = 256Mb and so on are my standards).

Again, thanks for your engine!

Best
Frank

Hi Esmeralda,

that was my first intention.
So I try out c:\syzygy at first!

Normally I am using ...
c:\Chess\_syzygybases-4, c:\Chess\_syzygybases-5 or c:\Chess\_syzygybases-6
or
c:\Chess\_egbbs-4, c:\Chess\_egbbs-5 ... and so one

Yes, in Nalimov times, some engines had problems with a directory with a blank space.
I remember!

:-)

Hi,
Thanks for your appreciation.
Unfortunately, I found this bug very weird, so I Investigate more.
And there is indeed a bug when you change the hash size to the default value.
I will post a new version soon, I hope.

Hi,
There is a new version available 4.04.01.
Shredder should be ok.

Hi Philippe,

Zangdar 4.04.01 runs now perfectly with Shredder GUI.
Many thanks for your bugfix on Sunday!
