Can you make a book? I don't see this option on the manual.

I'd like to see them posting a video where they work with the tree and a DB of about 16M games, which is the limit for Scid. The ones they've posted are with a "very large" DB of 35K. This kind of marketing gives me pause.
I recorded a video showing how smoothly this works with an 11M database. But I noticed I don't want to get into any copyright troubles, so I won't post it. But everything works smoothly as described. Maybe the developers can pick up on this.

They claim HCE also works with Chessbase database formats such as cbh and ctg trees. Has anyone tried this?

Also, can anyone post a nice win by Hiarcs 15 against any decent engine (even 2600 Elo or higher)?
I'd like to see a demonstration of how it plays the game.

This thread has been rather low on real content so far. :|

So, if you have honest questions (like seeing a video working with a large database or asking about CTG format (and, yes, this works)), then why not send an email to the developers expressing your interest and asking for this specific information instead of ranting in the wildness of a random thread? I mean this is really "Respectful and Efficient Communication 101" that one should have taken once in life.

You're completely out of line, and I hope mods will take notice. Those are questions posted on a specific thread about a specific product, opened by someone working there. If they don't consider this to be an effective way of communication, let them say it and proclaim this to be merely an announcement thread. (This doesn't seem to be the case).

No rant, no wildness, no randomness, no disrespect, (can't say the same for you).

Andrew
macOS or Windows? In macOS its in Documents/Hiarcs Chess/Engines. I assume it'll be similar under Windows.
Andrew wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 8:24 am Also please consider a NNUE version of Hiarcs as a supplement to the regular version. Very intriguing to see what this could do!
I hope they don't bother and keep focussing on the database software.
Well I hope they can do both. I'm using it under Windows. I've just seen a few files under
C:\Users\Owner\Documents\HIARCS Chess\Engines
thanks for the help!

No, it's your tone:

If you have an actual interest, I told you how to deal with this efficiently and as an adult.

Curious that you would mention "tone" but see no fault with yours, if that's being an adult, I'm happy never being one.

I converted Big Base to HCE and it went pretty smooth. It's fast to show the tree as you go through a game. I didn't see how to get the database itself to filter out to only show the game at this point in the tree but I'm sure there must be. I don't know what else you want to use the database
. My use of CB is mainly to use the online database, very seldom the big base itself but I do the update )the internet could fall down :)) and bougth a subscription for 2022 (mainly to pay for their work to keep the (online) database up to date). In the online (and referance) database you see the tree and the games who belong to this position in the tree. One difference is that you see the perfomance in the HCE tree.
To keep track of your own game is of course one use that you can do in both with.
Ctg books show up in HCE and can be used as you want, in play or browse through.

I did two run aganst Dragon in a nunn2 test in 3+2 with normal Dragon it ended +32=8-0 in favour of Dragon. In a 5+3 test against Dragon MC the result was +30=10-0. I observed a few of the 5+3 games and it was very interesting games, just for this joy it's nice to use Hiarcs who play 'natural' moves and still get kicked. I would guess it is nice to be used as the 'classical' part in opening explore like GM Sadler describe in his latest book. This is easy done in Hiarcs with one click if you have the position on the board.

My main use of Hiarcs is to play game and here it is one of the best. Easy to use, also with external engine that supprt uci_elo. It keep track of you score and you can define as many users as you want (I think) for play against each engine to not get a rating mess.
For database use I will still use CB but it is nice to have the tree while you go through the game you have played.

Well, it was just to click on the correct icon. I have still to find a method to look at this game without losing the game I'm analysing.

To add to this, Hiarcs have an option of positional learning. I haven't tested if it good for this use.
