i was Some what surprised that Diablo did not beat the Sir Nigel Short (also known as the Super Milano)..

it really is impressive how Ed's 6502 8 bit program's can keep pace with Kittingers Diablo and other 16 bit programs which are running on the more powerful 68000 Motorola processor
in his day Ed was acknowledged as the worlds premiere 8 bit chess programmer
with that in mind i decided to call back the Academy which had just undergone its annual physical and was still in the reception area of the examination rooms paying its bill

the Academy is rated a tad lower then Nigel at 1950 Elo i was curious to see if the Diablo could at least beat this version of Shroeder's World acclaimed 8 bit program

Time control -Game 30 Min

In the game Diablo had white and again was first out of book at move 5

Here the Academy was expecting Diablo to win a pawn with 22.Bxf6+ Qxf6 23.Rxd6
oddly Black at first does play the A8 Rook to D8 for the first 15 seconds but then tragically switches to the H8 Rook leaving its King without any defenders
even on its tournament level(40/2) the Academy plays Rhd8

yes late 1993(4th quarter 93)

Schroders first program for Mephisto was Rebel 5.0 in 1986

the Diablo was 91

but most of my computers are YOUNG examples for programmers engines but OLD for dedicated chess computers
same for Lang ,kittinger ,etcetc

due to an alarming, unprecedented demand and interest of the membership here(2 members) ...

The Novag Diablo will be facing off against all FOUR models of the Fidelity Excel Mach III (hereafter known as "Team Mach III")in a 4 game ..winner take all match

The batting order for Team Mach III will be as follows:

Games to be played this weekend (July 20-22) at what ever the hell time i can manage to get them in

Venue..all computers will be sleeping over my house for the duration of the match

Prize Fund..Winner of the Match gets to stay in my collection
Loser gets sold on Ebay or if the reserve price is not met..destroyed by several swift forceful blows utilizing a wooden mallet
