I'd vote Be2. Bishop needs square. It's badly positioned.

I'll vote in some of the moves, but I wouldn't be available for quite a number of days in this month. :)

Great !

Voting in some of the moves is fine. There are some people who have the time to vote every move; others just pop in when they have time. It works very well - or at least has so far, and did work in the match vs Steve's Tasc R30

So the tie is broken, I'll take Be2 as the forum's move

BigLion responds with what looks like quite a nice move, Bb6
(Matthias, your engine seems to be doing a good job so far !)

Position now

[d] qrb2rk1/pp2pppp/1bpn1n2/3p4/8/1P2PN2/PBPPBPPP/QR2NRK1 w - -

And the forum to move

And I see Steve has updated the position also on page 1 of the thread

7.d3 with the intention of c4 and Rd1 (not necessarily in that order).

Yes 7.d3 and then 8.c4
it almost doesn't matter what black plays on move 7 actually
not so sure about 8.Rd1 though
currently toying with 9.Rc1 for a bit

I would not have played such a weird move  !
BigLion's queen and b rook seem blocked.

My answer : 7.d3

... as Graham suggests.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Can't we play c4 right now?

After black's ...Bb6, d3 does not look that bad. I personally prefer not to have a bishop on e2 which cannot go anywhere except d1, but maybe in this concrete case d3 is OK because it prevents Ne4 and aids c2-c4.

IMO our white bishop needed to go to f3 (the best diagonal given the Q on a8 and the fact that we are going to attack black's center with c2-c4). Second best would be c2, where it aims at the k-side, which is always useful :)

So basically I agree that we need c2-c4, but not quite sure that d3 is the best way to do it.
