I tried this again today with Ancalagon (HT so using 7 threads instead of 4 but apart from using hyperthreads it's the same hardware) instead of Rainbow Serpent, and giving it about the same bonus for moving the King towards the immobile Rook. The bonus helps a little a think but the bench goes up which is not a good sign. The bonus is awarded rarely though, so maybe it is not too costly. Any engine today, like Komodo or Brain maybe, that solves it quickly? Ancalagon here a little bit faster than Serpent was the last time but that may be because the extra hyperthreads are kicking in. Or simply searchluck.

I can't explain it since my changes come from many sources - and I generally run a long time control match to ensure it doesn't hurt ELO too much , I keep it. Often it is much after the fact - when I notice that another position is getting solved. That is certainly the case here.
