I didn't mean that I switch protocols on the fly midgame, I simply switch to xboard if first command from the GUI is xboard
I know. In my case, "xboard" is just an unknown command when in UCI mode and I ignore it

You either start the engine in UCI-mode by default (or with "-c uci"), or in Xboard mode with "-c xboard" and use the protocol you defined, or be prepared to have commands ignored :P

Just a little friendly reminder:

It would be nice, if not directly associated topics get their own deserved thread.
(also better for having more participants)
I hoped we could diminish the 'new releases...' thread under 50 pages per year ;-)

May be I should split it up in half years for the future?

Again, the reason for collecting a huge part of releases per year in one thread, was that it makes
research later much easier for sites, who collect such infos for the community, also for people,
who just randomly come here.
(No one knows how long e.g. the chronology will be maintained and CCW already isn't updated anymore,
then someone can more easily reconstruct something similar)

Guenther maybe you can create an off topic '' called engine chess discussions''.. so they don't polute this thread? :) :)

I don't think it's polluted and any place in the General Forum or Programmers Forum might fit depending on the issue,
but people complained in the past about too huge threads.

Code: Select all

New engines releases... 2021   13.4 pages  @66 days => estimation 74 pages
New engines releases... 2020 60 pages 366 days
New engines releases... 2019 47 pages 365 days
Well, now we have 'polluted' it too ;-)

Very well, I took into account some of your remarks to make the program usable.

(new) Zahak 0.03 by Amanj Sherwany (CAN)
https://github.com/amanjpro/zahak

There were already 0.01 and 0.02 releases in the last 11 days, but I have not tested yet, if they would run w/o bugs
and already had enough uci support.

I have only tested version 0.03 and it was able playing games in the CuteChessGUI immediately.
(from cmd it seems it doesn't support most uci commands but enough for playing games)
My very rough estimation is a playing strength around 1800 CCRL.

Below is one test game

Tested Zahak 0.0.1 now and when I already thought it was running smoothly too,
it disconnected finally in a won postion.
Trying 0.0.2 later too.

I have yet again released a new version of Loki :D : Loki 2.0.0, with a good deal of improvements, bug fixes and additions!

It has been tested to be stable with a large number of games during development (~1500+), and has an estimated elo of around 2019.

Download: https://github.com/BimmerBass/Loki/releases/tag/v2.0.0

At the moment it compiles with g++ on MacOS and windows, and MSVC (although with a couple of warnings...).
Author of Loki, a C++ work in progress.
