You were not interested in being a candidate, what you become change your mind?!

Is this person qualified to be a candidate?

Andrew is not on the moderator candidates of good standing list, having been banned (for advocating false name sign ups and spamming). His application is invalid.

Additionally, Andrew refers to the FG members, who he would need to work closely with, as “fucking retards”.

Additionally, Andrew has stated that he intends to to get himself made moderator, whereupon he would carry out some disruptive act and promptly resign.

On the discord there are several suggestions that people sign up here with fake accounts (20 was the suggested number) to influence any election.

All in all, my opinion is that it is correct to have excluded Andrew. We’re not interested in seeing the forum wrecked from within.

Is there any explanation why these people on discord are that kind of destructive??
It all reminds me on the massive amount of trolls Talkchess has survived in all those years of existence.
The idea was always to protect our beloved computerchess forum against trolls who tried to destroy discussions with off topic or personal insults or chaos.

Because somebody said NO to them. For what happens then, read up on narcissistic rage.
One can’t suppose that Covid lockdowns, reductions in socialisation and education didn’t also have its effect on the generation concerned.

!! Yes. Seems you are right. What a sad development. We should never give our forum in the hands of these invaders.

Well, at some point in the not too distant future, this forum will be handed over to some people of the next generation or die. Not today, not tomorrow, but soon - given the timeline so far.

Sorry peter but i don’t think this is an age problem.
IMO this has to do with values.
Chris and Ed e.g. are programmers of the first age. Chris more then ed. He began on zx81 etc. Then spectrum.
They have made so many experiences with customers and Dealers, companies and programming languages, marketing and sales business… I doubt todays guys can understand what these pioneers had to do and DID for our hobby computerchess.

But if you don’t know the past you cannot lead the future.
It might be todays talents enjoy discord.
It might be they are younger.

But how do they want to lead the future if they have no clue about the past ?

Only knowledge is the key.

Young Employee: "What we need around here are some fresh ideas."

Old Employee: "What we need around here is some experience."

It's not like blatant disregard of netiquette and bullying is a "fresh idea" in any way. In fact, it is so old that it was the reason why people came up with the netiquette. Or did you intend to drive mclane's point home?
