At the risk of sounding pretentious you could call it an infelicity.

Thanks for the audio, Ted.

But, what happened to Anand??? Why is he not there at the press conference? Definitely looking forward to it in the next audio.

I feel sorry for Kramnik, because he's clerly not playing at his best level, making many blunders. That's sad because he's ill (he suffers from ankylosing spondylitis, wich necesitated surgery last year), and had the force to come back and prepare for this match during months.

When one remember that this player is the one who defeated Kasparov, and the only one that got the GMI title without gaining the IM one first, one can only feel sad. Especielly when everyone seems to cheer for his opponent (I like Anand too, but we should cheer for best chess, not for one of those two gentlemen).
I do not feel sorry for kramnik because he does not deserve the title.
I remember Kramnik as the player who lost a match against shirov(so had no moral right to play for the title against kasparov)
and I also remember that he could only draw a match against peter leko.

Kramnik won against topalov but topalov has no experience in matches for the world title because he achieved his title in a tournament and not in a match and topalov(unlike anand who lost against kasparov) even never played a single match for the title before the match against kramnik.

Boy!, I am exhausted. I guess watching back to back wins will do that to you. Were those wins fun or what? :) I was thinking these loses serve Kramnik well, thats what happens when you stop playing at the top just to avoid your best matches. Of course I am thinking Kasparov here. You lose you form in top level chess. You fall off your game. What's the saying "if you want to be the best you have to beat the best". Hiding just won't do here. I think Kramnik is now paying the price for it. Anyway thats my two cents your mileage may vary ...

Dew to some crazy ruling by FIDE. The colors will be reversed in the second half of the match. Which means that Kramnik will be black for games 6 and 7.

PS: Karpov will be making the Opening move for Anand today.
where do they come up with these rule changes???

Bob,

You tell me! I just report the facts as I hear them ...

PS: You can listen to it yourself in the first 3 minutes of audio by Yasser Seirawan on page 3 of this topic.

18...c5?! was the last of three dubious moves in a row. Miguel Illescas suggests that 19...bc5! was better but I still think that 19...a5! was the only move which gave black a good chance to secure a draw.

In fact there is very interesting variation after 19...a5 where white goes a pawn up but he has to give it back or else risk losing the game. 8-)
