Be7. I suspect that against a competent opponent I would grab the chance and go for Qa5+Bd2 Qb6 swap the Queens, get rid of the horrible pawn on a7 and prepare for a long fight for a draw.

I suggest next game is against a normal engine without pawn odds, and without engine analysis on our site.

I prefer a game without any odds also.
CCC vs normal engine with or without
analysis would be a plus in this forum.
I also think Steve should continue
more games here with his collection
of machines vs. anyone who wish to
play him.

Best to you,

Gerold.

I count 13 or more people participating - fantastic

I see 5 definitive votes for Be7 (Zach, Miguel, Gerold, Matthias, Andranik) and I think it is the majority vote. A couple of others are fairly happy with it also (Tano, Chris) so I think this is the move Steve should accept

Next closest was Qc7 (Sam, S Taylor, myself). Qa5 was looking good earlier, but when other moves were suggested to avoid the queen exchange, those people very graciously agreed to something else. Nice spirit of cooperation here :)

Yep. I really hope Steve might do more of these if this one is a success, at the very least it gives his machines a workout, as long as they don't expire under the strain

I wonder what we are expecting the Tasc response to be.. a move by the f1 bishop, or a castle perhaps... I will see in the morning, late here already

I didn't even see that Qa5 was connected with any queen swap. I just accepted that Whites bishop CAN remain on e3, instead of going to d2 and c3.

You mean against a PC engine ? I doubt Steve B would be interested in this, but plenty of other people including myself would be prepared to run an engine to facilitate this, and it could run alongside the match against Steve B's dedicated beauties. Did you have any idea about what level of engine ?
