Could I make one request? I have not found this setting.

Please allow a setting so the the GUI will shutdown and restart itself every "x" games of a tournament and then resume the tournament from where it was. The chess engines seems to start to have timeout issues after several hundred games and restarting lessens the problem.

Is there a FRC in the GUI?

During this crash, Banksia quits and leaves the engines running. kill -9 required.

I believe this is the same crash I had with earlier versions and that I fixed by not outputting UTF-8 strings ... But this time, crash occurs with UTF-8 and ASCII.
Thank for the bug report. The info is quite good for me. If you could, give me a bit more: which engines are involved, the timers.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022 TO PHAM AND HIS FAMILY!!!

Wishing you a happy new year. My new year's wish is if it is possible to support ponder mode with handicap.

That is, Engine A can think during opponent's turn while Engine B is not able. Even if it's engine B's turn.

Interesting concept for handicap matches. One possible way to even out the gap between to matching engines.

Are engines reloaded every time a new game starts? I've noticed a few seconds delay between games, which is a huge overhead when playing ultra-bullet.

Hi,

I just spotted a small error in BanksiaGUI.
If using a winboard/xboard/cecp engine, Banksia issues UCI_Variant=Normal. It should not issue any UCI option to the engine, especially if the engine has not listed it in its feature option list.

To Banksia's excuse, I copied my engine which defaults to UCI mode and changed the protocol in the overview to Wb as my engine supports both. The UCI mode has this setting.

Secondly, if using drag-drop in Linux on the add engine box, the engine name is preceded by file:///, while it should just use / at the start. Not such a behaviour on Mac.

Thirdly, after adding an engine in Linux through the browse folder option, second time the file explorer does not show up. You have to quit and restart Banksia. (Xfce unbuntu 21.10 (or 04).

Hi to all!

I'm really confused about openings book management on BSG. Since Pham seems actually very distant from this project, maybe somebody else could help me.

In tournaments often the exact same opening is played, even if I choose -1 as random option. With my trick to start a new tournament, delete opening path, restart tournament, stop tournament, reload old one from Recent tournaments, I has able to change this behavior. This workaround doesn't work anymore. BSG plays always 1.b3 b6 2.Bb2 Bb7 also changing opening book on every engine, unflagging book on overall parameters, using PGN, EPD, or bin books, pressing "reset openings for all games" on edit tournament panel. Luckily this opening leads to +-0.0x position evaluation, but is really boring.

Does somebody know how to change this behavior in current tournament?
I would simply have a minimal varied balanced opening book to randomize a little the games, NOT huge optimized libraries for a specific engine 50 full moves .bin . I want to test engines, not books
