Smirf was waiting for the opponent to make a mistake. I did two 4 +2 matches between pepito and smirf a while back and it did something similar then as well.

If he played that to push ME to make a mistake, he was wrong. A 2100 player does not let a guy playing that to survive.

I do not believe that smirf played strange moves like h5 when you have no game to show so we can check it.

I tried to play against it and I got the impression that it is not an engine that does strange moves.

There are probably many engines that are stronger than smirf but there are also many engines that are stronger than IM level so it proves nothing
and smirf may be at IM level.

I do not know what you downloaded
Maybe at the time you downloaded it you downloaded some version that plays immediatly and at depth 1 or 2 it can play stupid moves but assuming that smirf did not play instantly but used time during the game I cannot believe that it played strange moves like h5.

Well, if you cannot believe what I say, no discussion is possible. I do not play fast game against programs, neither I save the games, exception made of very special ones, but this one was not. So I cannot show nothing but my words.
At last, I cannot care less of all this stuff. I have no agenda against or in favor of this or any other program. If you believe me or not is also of no great importance to me.
Personally I would love to be mistaken. Any good engine added to my collection is a benefice I get.

My best

I always believe you Fernando. To be sure. Now i am getting
interested in this Smirt. I will play it vs. other engines just to
see how strong it is.

Testing Smirt,

Gerold.
