Are you people (and especially Steve) kidding??! :o

This some sort of missed president-of-the-USA-candidatery opportunity in your minds?

It's rather disturbing to read adult people argue like this about something like this.
Lighten up, go outside the house, get some other hobbies besides anything chess-related, go on vacation, watch the news.

Perspective and relativation is what you need.

All there needs to be is some people cleaning up the CCC once in a while, keeping it on-topic, suitable for all ages, and respectfull.
The moderators are currently doing (and have always been as long as I am a member of CCC, roughly halfway 2001) an excellent job.

Actually the CCC is the only forum I visit where there's such a (ridiculous) thing as moderator elections. Let the current ones do it till they don't want to anymore, then run a simple poll on who should replace a retiring moderator or something, if those running the board do not wish to assign one themselves.

Who (besides the usual bunch of troll's that will oppose any current moderation) is actually against the current moderation? Besides Steve B. , for whatever reason.

So, lighten up, and all enjoy computerchess.

Flowerpower regards,
Stan

i have told you once and i will mention to you again i have had nothing to do with any campaign against you(not that one exists except in your imagination)

I'll leave that for others to decide, but I will say that there is much evidence in CCC and it was also confirmed to me by two very reliable sources.

Regardless of that, I'd like nothing better than to let bygones be bygones and call a truce. What do you say?

And be assured - I have absolutely nothing to hide as per my answers to your (dare I say it) paranoic concerns.

Regards, Graham.
well i am all for letting the voters decide and a truce it is
but for you to say that others have confirmed to you that i am part of an organized campaign against you is simply a falsehood on someones part

my opinions have and will continue always to be my own and i have never nor will i ever ask someone to join a campaign against another person..here or anywhere

may the better man win
regards
Steve

This is an illogical post Precisely how did the moderators become moderators in the first place if not by elections? What you are proposing is in fact election for life - something that is normally the preserve of Popes and dictators.

Really, who cares?!

Popes and dictators.

You're talking about moderation of an internetforum.
You're aware of that aren't you?

Who ever died because of anything happening on CCC? No one?
(although some here are probably close to a heart-attack on a regular basis)

Get over it.

Most forums also have more than 3 moderators. Additionally, right now most issues about moderation are geared against Graham which is a bad thing. If there are more mods, there is less work for each of them and they can stay more in the background. We could select 6 mods that watch both for CCC and CTF?
I personally think that Steve and Graham should resolve their differences in private and not on the forum. This is not intersting to the public. They are both nice guys as far as I know them and I don't want to see a Graham clan and a Steve clan fighting each other on the forum.
I don't think there is either an anti-Graham campaign organised by Steve nor that Graham wants to be came sole ruler of CCC!

If you feel as strongly as appears to be the case (judging by your language) then you can always decamp to a forum that does things the way you prefer, which you seem to think is the only way.

I won't bother with the fact that you either failed to understand the points I was making in my post or you chose to misrepresent them. I cannot understand why you get so worked up because CCC and CTF have always used elections to select moderators. Is it because you live in the European Union, where it is taken for granted that all real decisions, large and small, are taken by people who have been appointed rather than elected ? :? It is to you one should say
Get over it.
