No idea about a release date for the Toga MP versions. Shaun Brewer might have an idea if you ask him.

You'd need to ask Ryan Benitez any Fruit questions.

It would be amazing to see Toga II 3.1.2SE multithreads at same level as Chess 64 (= fruit multithreads) :)

Chess 64 is not "= fruit multithreads". It is an entirely new and different engine. I did not yet see any game played by it.

Fruit itself is MP for a quite a while by now. It is still activelly developped. Latest versions are private. They are in an unfinished state with a lot to be debugged and tuned ... but they play very good chess.

I do not doubt that Fruit will be soon much stronger than Toga.

Thanks for the informations Marc. It's good news that Fruit MP is being developed. Do you know when we can expect to see a Fruit MP release (perhaps during spring?) and will it be a commercial version?

For what I know, if a new Fruit is to be released it will be free (and closed source) but I do not know what is Ryan's latest opinion on the more fundamental question : to release or not to release at all in the forecoming times.

Maybe he will tell us more himself in this thread?

Fruit has more and more become Ryan's baby. AFAIK Fabien did not do anything to develop it for more than two years.

At the opposite Chess64 is more a project by Fabien. And as usual Fabien is unpredictible and extremely difficult to talk with. In fact I am not quite sure that we will actually se a Chess64 playing in the forecoming CCCT...

You are right; we will not see Ches64 in CCT10 like I had hoped. Also as you know from our past discussions Fruit will be free and closed source.

BTW why is bitbase support now removed from Toga (when EET is specially used as test)?!

Bitboards were not so much removed but for the 3.1.2 SE version the basis was Toga II 1.3.1 which is a bit simpler than 1.3.4 and has no bitbase support. I don't think the bitbases help much in computer- computer games, they are more useful in analysis. Maybe it would be different if some larger 6 men bitbases could be generated, I don't know if Daniel Shawul or anybody else has experimented with that yet. It would also be possible to implement the few changes in the Toga SE versions in the code of Toga II 1.3.4 and compile that to a new version, it is not difficult because there are very few changes in the code.
