I think that running the different compiles on the starting positions and comparing their nodes per second after a certain ply is a good way to measure their speed (all things being equal.)
David Dahlem wrote:And what are the different builds of TogaII_3.1.2SE available?
On the Toga you downloaded, you should have:

TogaIIv3.1.2SE_P4_SSE2.exe

And there's a folder named "Additional Compiles by Denis Mendoza" (You need to unz7 it, tell me if you have problems doing it) with:

Toga_II_3.1.2SEp3.exe
and
Toga_II_3.1.2SEp4.exe

(These later compiles are only needed if the first one doesn't run on your computer)

And finally:

Toga Chekov by Denis P. Mendoza

However, I'd just suggest to trust the GUI on changing the settings, since that guarantees that you'll have the highest speed (I think.)

Have fun.
Ok, thanks. I did a quick test of the first three you listed, and my compile was the slowest ...

Toga312SE_P4_SSE2.exe
info depth 13 seldepth 32 time 8984 nodes 4212642 nps 468905
-------------------------
Toga II 3.1.2SEp4.exe
info depth 13 seldepth 32 time 9250 nodes 4212642 nps 455421
-------------------------
Toga II 3.1.2SEp3.exe
info depth 13 seldepth 32 time 9422 nodes 4212642 nps 447107
-------------------------
Toga312SE-Chekov.exe - My build
info depth 13 seldepth 40 time 19125 nodes 7725079 nps 403926
-------------------------

I'll replace my compile with Toga312SE_P4_SSE2.exe and restart the tourney. Toga should do better.

:-)

I have not played any Frenzee games so it's not late to use Frenzee Feb08. Here's the new logo:

Thank you!

That's why I created them! So I'm glad they're being used :)

BTW, Ulysses, my two sources for logos dont have much to do with me any more, so you "might better get to work"

I'm using this one, it is quicker than the SSE2 one on my machine

Toga II 3.1.2SEp4.exe

But reality is the differences are so small I doubt the tournament result would be any different

Toga is doing OK so far in my tournament

So Jim Ablett's compile seems a little faster!

Here's the updated logo (For those that will use this compile with the Chekov settings):

I'm going to use Jim's compile for the 3rd and 4th rounds of my tourney, thank you!
