Clone scandals cannot be prevented. The question is if we want them in the general forum or in another subforum.
Yes Mike, but how many clones appear in one year for example
IMHO,not that much so that we open a special subforum for them....
_No one can hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward….

Yes, I remember- you released some time ago- the source code of the chess itself - for free of couse , not for money like Norman ! Bravo !

Silvian,
one small correction here, if i may...i wasn't releasing the source code for money. I was asking users to support the engines development, which can be an extremely expensive proposition. Financially, it's near impossible for any small develpoper to compete with the likes of the Rybka 'team', hiring IMs, buying powerful multi-processor servers, etc.

Mike-
in my opinion, a 'clone' forum would be a good idea, with some advantages: any suggestions, simiaritites, allegations, evidence, etc. could all be presented in one place in a common thread. authors would have a chance to defend themselves. the chess engine community could weigh in with their opinion. ultimately, it could even be put to a vote if the engine was accepted by the chess engine community or not.
