It will be nice to hear how each adapter performs!

The adpater affected the performance of the engine a lot, instead of fixing it CB decided to do away with using the adpater and started supporting UCI. At one time, around 99-2000, the only thing I used was the adpater, to test WB engines and if I recall correctly only few engines, Yace, Pharaon, Der Bringer, Gromit 2.2 etc..fully supported the adapter(the programmers added work arounds for the "new" command).

The updated adapter was f'ed up as well. Why do you think CB decided to stop supporting winboard protocol?

I think the best version was the adapter of Nov. 23rd, 2000. But I forgot the reason why I think that. It is the one I kept a backup of. I think the latest version was included with one of the Jonny downloads (IIRC, an extra version for Jonny). I do not remember why I preferred the other version.

If I recall correctly Chrilly worked on the second adapter..it did not fix any of the existing problem so many of us continued to use the old adapter. I have used both adapters (again, years ago during Fritz6 era) but I also prefered the 22Kb one, I guess I probably read a post from one of the programmers.
