yes you are right steve. but java is not a very effective/fast language. therefore it runs on ALL kind of machines.

thats the price for a meta-language.

ineffective but running on all systems.

i find it interesting to see shredder playing as java engine versus old dedicated machines. next opponent is the novag emerald classic plus.

this machine is from programmer Dave Kittinger and is a 16 bit risc machine from 1997.
H8 CPU with 26,6 MHz. 1940 ELO.

Thor..
you can use 1000 Schachcomputers from before 1995 and not one will win one game against a 500 Mhz cell phone

it is a pleasure though to see you using all of the fine old chess computers from your collection..

steve java, the meta-language shredder is programmed in, is very inefficient. to give you an overview... on this 500 mhz machine
shredder is doing ~5000 NPS. thats very low NPS.
and comes close to the NPS of our dedicated units.

so , the next opponent is a strong 32 Bit Frans Morsch programmed
Milano Pro from Mephisto.

32 Bit, 20 mhz Risc CPU, 64 KByte ROM, 4 KByte RAM. no hash tables.
2076 ELO.
