imho, concerning 1.0 beta, i think the evidence speaks for itself:
http://www.chesslogik.com/controversies/

but there are many who don't share this viewpoint...
so i have a better poll:

who the hell really cares?

the fact is that modern Rybka is incredible...a fantastic piece of programming and software engineering, and Vas should be commended for that.
Hi Norman. I have read all the testing reports etc. None prove
whether Rybka is a clone. I was one of the first to test 1.0 beta.
it was and still is diff. than any other eng.

Best to you,

Gerold.
Hi Gerold-

'derivative' = derived from (see link that Sean provided at top)
'clone' = exact or close copy...

in my vocabulary:
derivative != (is not equal to) clone

It seems the more vocal "no" group is being outpolled by the "yes" group. I have a feeling several of the "no" group have an affiliation with Rybka, which is skewing the Poll.

Yes 55% [ 30 ]
No 33% [ 18 ]
No opinion 11% [ 6 ]

That's right, who the hell really cares!

The question of license violation is principally interesting, but it will not be solved by a zillion polls not to mention the lynching mobs behind them.

So let us all cut the nonsense talk and let legal processes do what they are for, when someone decides to utilize them. And hey, we have a mutual great hobby out here.

Best regards,
Kaj

It is the best right now, so at this time it is not derivative of anybody.
