Excuse me Ray, I think Christopher's move is Nef3.

The post you were looking at was his correction of a reply to Steve's move.

Cheers,
Graham.

b4 is a good move Mr. Banks but I am also thinking that the black bishop could also go to a3 or b2. But you idea of the white bishop on b3 is very good.

P.d. I just edited my post with a correct quote, maybe I misinterpreted Mr. Conkie's wording.

You did but that's OK, as I also made a typo.

Ngf3 is my move although part of me says we should live dangerously and play something obscure and in keeping with the fact this is a Chess960 game.

If there is a tie I could be persuaded of b3 but it's Ngf3 for now.

Best,

Gerold.

Hi Gerold, have you ever before started a chess game with b3 ? :D

.
For 485 i always start with b3. :D

For move 2.d2-d3. Now the Q and the black B has full mobility.

Best,

Gerold.

P.S. look out Black Rook and Black King here we come :)

A useless piece of information - in the CCRL *blitz* chess960 database, this opening has been played 70 times. A 21.4% draw rate and a white score of 52.1%

This is the only bit of computer help I'll offer.. In those 70 games, here were the openings played:

Ngf3 - 24 games
e4 - 14
d4 - 13
c4 - 9
d3 - 4
b3 - 3
h4 - 3

I'm happy to break the tie by changing from 1.b4 to 1.b3.
