Hi Miky !

You may buy nothing from ChessBase !
Why all this anti-ChessBase agitation ?
A bug ? No problem ! It's only a software piece not a God particle !
I like -for example-the design of all ChessBase&Shredder products !
And.....I never criticized Arena for the lack of inspiration !

ChessBase infected regards,
Silvian

But you as a "serious" tester I am sure you can tell us, but not saying anything is telling us more than you think.

You see even people who have the program won't tell you at least one of those bugs has been fixed. Guess why. Because it hasn't been fixed.

Why should I buy such a crap ?

Actually, I found out that Fritz 12 is not even able to cook coffee. What a crap indeed. I pay over 30€ and this stupid thing cannot make me a simple coffee (nor cappuchino!). I complained to Chessbase but did not get any reasonable answer when this serious bug will be fixed.
I also found a serious bug when playing on Playchess; I lost several games in a row in the main playing room. As I'm a superb player this must be a bug of the Chessbase GUI. A good GUI should see that I'm the superior player and award the win to me. When I told the sysop what fu§$$&!g as§$"le he is, because he doesn't listen to me, he simply ignored me. Never before I was insulted like that. What a crap.

Btw. when linking Arena to my coffee machine; do I have to use a serial cable or USB?

Cheers,
A.

USB, but it only works with certain coffee machines.

Indeed, my Phillips Senseo does not have usb 2.0, a pitty
Maybe there is a new configuration file needed for Arena ?

You must be thinking of the Winboard Coffee Machine adapter configuration file. I can lend you my 500 page book on this subject if you like Johan?

For reference, here is the Deep Fritz 11 analysis on my dual core laptop with 2.3 GB of hash (BTW, I have noticed that going above 2GB hash makes a huge improvement for Fritz 11):

Oh, at 6:30 Fritz 11 sees that Rh3 is winning.

I have played 20 games between Fritz 12 and Strelka 3.
Strelka won 10.5- 9.5 with 5 wins 4 loses and 11 draws.I have used 2 computers for the games.Since both engines are single core using dual core and quad did not make any difference.
I have personally expected much more from new Fritz.Looks like all the work went to make new chess playing interface instead to make stronger engine. And I am not sure that I am ready to use that interface yet.
And at the time when most of the engines are made for MP use CB is still coming with 1 CPU engines.
At least MP engine one can use on different computers but one is stuck with 1 CPU engine.
And there is the question is it a fair deal to play one engine on 1 core and the other on 2 or 4 cores.Yes,Rybka SP can beat a lot of engines using MP computers but that can not be said about other chess programs.
Since I am collecting chess programs buying this programs is OK but for people who expect more from new chess programs this will be dilemma to buy it or not.I would say if you are going to spend money wait either for Deep Fritz 12 and reviews or wait for Rybka 4 that should be out before the end of the year.Even Hiarcs 13 should be OK.
Maybe some other people who also got Fritz 12 by now can make their comments about what they think about the engine and interface to.
