Only when the mods haven't informed the other members, or when a banned member hasn't informed others.
I challenge you to see the time difference between Christopher Conkie's last post in CCC and Chris Whittington's gleeful query in the Rybka forum. Gives it all away really, and then guess who the next person is to ask?

Additionally you'll note that in the cases you've quoted, I was asking on behalf of the member concerned. Were Chris Whittington and Swami asking on behalf of Christopher Conkie?

Cheers,
Graham.

Could one of the mods clarify this matter? for example, how long he was banned for?
Good question. Interesting.
I find this thread not interesting but strange. No one would be delighted, if
such a thread is opened just because someone did not post for a dozen of
hours, especially when it comes from a person which is not
a friend of the inquired user.
What if we open a thread called 'Is Swami banned?' when he makes
a little break here? ;-)

Here is my response on this. What is handled in private, stays private. We handled this case among the moderators, in private, made the decisions in private, etc. If you want to remain active, then stop trying to create a problem where none is present. If you have a question, ask the party directly, not thru a public post here. Your post itself has created still more problems for moderators, and it is not looked upon kindly by any of us.

cease and desist. voluntarily or involuntarily, your choice.
Bob - it is interesting to note that Christopher Whittington posted exactly the same query in the Rybka forum more than 24 hours ago. Private moderation matters are being leaked again.

Cheers,
Graham.
Since when were bannings private??

Since we had private discussions between the parties involved and agreed to keep it that way. You notice we did not announce anything. Everyone agreed that was the most acceptable way to proceed.

Personally, I am a great proponent of the old adage "praise in public, chastise in private" method of management.

It is neither strange nor interesting. If my understanding is correct, it is simply Schadenfreude shared between Whittington and his inadequate little fart catchers.

More importantly, this was not a huge issue. It was a problem we felt needed addressing. All parties appeared to be satisfied with the outcome, and there was no good reason to make this a public spectacle, IMHO. There were issues that came up, we discussed them at great length, and decided on a course of action. Obviously, if you don't agree with our actions, don't elect us the next time. No decision is cheered by 100% of the members. That's just a part of a public forum. If enough are not happy, the solution is quite easy. I'll hardly cry to lose a job that pays nothing and takes a bit of time here and there.

OK, I am not interetsed in details. When I was moderator in forums, I prefered to post who got banned and why. Just because there might be missunderstandings if a member suddenly disappears, don't answers questions, 2nd reason is to show others where they have to be careful.

But it's your decission and it's fine.

But as you told a few details I am wondering why one gets banned for a "not huge issue" and why one is satisfied with his ban. But I will probably never know :)

Best wishes,
Alex

I don't know if he's banned or not....I realized that this place has become a civilized one again and I suspected that the person in question is gone....

BTW,this guy was the first mod ever to consistantly threaten the members who disagree with him that they'll get banned,erased,terminated,etc....well,he thought that it's Exactachess forum, but it turns to be that it's not....

Dr.D
Is it "civilized" to attack anybody who is unable to defend himself? I would use another adjective

I am not attacking him,I am speculating about the reasons for his ban....note that I didn't even notice that he's gone and I didn't complain much lately about his personal attacks toward me as I tried to ignore him....

I am not this kind of a man stabbing the other man in the back....as in chess,I take the front side attack :D
