The sticky prohibiting linkage has been removed

A really disappointing decision made by the three moderators. I wonder whether it was unanimous?

There is no reason to be disappointed because it was the just decision. A group of four men are standing and a woman comes along and says "one of these men abused me," but she refuses to say which one. Should all the men be thrown in prison until further notice? If evidence should come out supporting wrongdoing, I assure you, I will be on the right side.

I figured out that the moderators always do the opposite of what I want.

This helps me a lot to get from the moderators what I want

Best,
Alex
The problem with this will be that links will be given to these engines on sites which contain many other pirated engines.
I don't think so. The main Robbo update website is Norman's and there are no pirated engines there.
People will generally offer Robbo from their own websites. I too may host Robbo eventually.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Is that the Norman that is/was banned from here for cloning?

His main clone is now a strong free derivative.

Being that is for a concrete goal, then ithas to have a time limit as happens
with any goal.

Hope that as soon as you get what you need for your PDA you will let it free.

Wait a minute! Let me get this straight! We are talking about Norman Schmidt! This Norman Schmidt!

http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/lastupdates.htm

And, he is the bird who is running the website for ROBBO!!!! Do I have that right. Or, am I confused on this issue?

Those are some of his engines on that site? Oh! God! Tell me I am WRONG! That is hilarious if it is true.

The original site is this one:

http://ippolit.wikispaces.com

Norman Schmidt's pages contain several open source engines. Two times he published clones as his own work. Now all is within GPL:

http://www.chesslogik.com/robbolito.htm

If people do not get a link, they will search by google and get on a warez site...

Is everyone in accord that Norman Schmidt is, at least affiliated with Chesslogik.com, and very well may be the proprietor of the site.

A well known provider of clone chess engines.

So! That didn't take much effort did it? And a step in the right direction in understanding who these people might be that you are dealing with.

You are all very intelligent people-don't be myopic in your academic understanding of this issue. It is much broader than just limiting the research to the compilation of a chess engine.
