It will take some thousands of games before we know the real difference.
At any rate, I guess that long before we have a concrete answer someone will have greatly improved the formula and we'll be off on the chase again.

At any rate, it has given us something fun to yammer on about.

For those folks who would like to see the games .I will post them tomorrow.I am on vacation and here I have dual core laptop that is now busy doing another tournament with 3 engines.
This I am writing from the uncles computer that gives me a chance to access internet while the other computer is playing chess.

Misha forgot to mention, g4 was on 32bits, while others were 64. :D

I think generally yes. Some programs, e.g. Firefox, have been trademarked to prevent this.
