You welcome. ;-)

(assuming you're in the right directory of course...)
Crafty.exe & crafty.rc in same folder.

Jim.
What if I have 3 different .rc files, depending on my mood...
How do I pick the one I want?
I think Crafty just reads 'crafty.rc, so you'd have to make 3 separate folders,
each with crafty.exe & crafty.rc.

Here's my use case:

I want to have 3 different crafty configurations accessible as different engines in a gui such as SCID or Arena.

What I am hearing from you is that I need 3 different directories, containing their separate crafty.exe and crafty.rc.

Is this correct?

EDIT: Jim, you answered my question. Didn't see it before I wrote this.

Ruxy/Jim,

Thanks - but the links you have provided are for Tarrasch Toy engine v0.905 which I already have. I am after version 0.906 which looks to be a later release and looks a bit stronger (1800 rather than 1500). It is this one I am trying to find a download link for.

Thanks,

Mark

No. Edit you crafty.rc and save it crafty.rc.1. Other settings put in crafty.rc.2 ... crafty.rc.n. You can save them all in one directory. Before you start just replace the crafty.rc with crafty.rc.<of-your-choice>. I suggest to copy the rc.n so that you can't overwrite them with each other.

Play it in IE 8 and it will be about 1400, in Firefox and Opera closer to 1500-1600, and in Chrome about 1800.

See, adjustable strength with nothing more than changing the browser :D.

Just look at all this crap to try to get Crafty working. It's insane! I would never recomend Crafty for anyone. It's not worth the effort. Best bets are Chessmaster (almost any version) and Rebel. Rebel is realistic in time useage while playing lower Elo games. You can find an old version of Chessmaster either free or real cheap ($10).
