Topalov was a good sportsman until the Kramnik match. Whatever happened there was the result of Danailov's actions. He just played his game and trusted Danailov with the rest of stuff. The fact that he is still with him shows that he is content with Danailov's unsportsman, rude, arrogant behaviours.

Regards,
Agreed. Topalov seems to have decent character judging from his interviews. I think his character is fine even today except for his unconditional support to Danailov's demands.

Danailov got him a lot of money and opportunity but at the cost of a bad reputation. Topalov himself likely realizes the damage. In similar cases, money will win over character :(

I do not know Topalov, though his face and expression does not talk of a sympathetic guy, but I do know personally Anand, a really gentleman, nice, smart and pleasant. He does not seems to be the classic GM full of manias and moronic behavior.

Nobody expressed any opinion about Topalov in the thread.

I mentioned Will Rogers, who said, "I never met a man I didn't like."
Then the chain extended to Roy Rogers who had a horse named trigger.

In any case, my subliminal point was that {nearly} all persons are likeable if you have the right attitude. The rest of this branch was just jokes about "Rogers confusion" of sorts.
Have you red the starting post and Peter C supplemental post ?
I read the original (and none of the others). Hence my reply about Will Rogers.

People who know him personally can express opinion about and thouse people have good opinion about him - i.e. Susan Polgar .
This is actually an interesting question - How is Topalov received by his peers in the GM community? Do they think this guy is big jerk too?

Apparently Susan Polgar has a decent opinion of him (I'm curious if you can point us to something that would show us more about Polgar's attitude toward him). Have any other GMs ever expressed an opinion?

Dear gents,

My understanding is that most GMs are friendly toward each other. Even Kasparov and Karpov seem more than civil now.

Most comments about Topalov are that he's a very nice guy, although many comments about his manager, Danailov, are negative.

The only negative things I recall about Topalov are Morozevich's accusation that Topalov received computer information "somehow" during games in Argentina, and the Topalov-Kramnik "toiletgate" fiasco.

All the best,
Steve

You can read the comments to the 3rd game finish on her blog.

Who think that he is a 'big jerk' ? I do not know anyone.
GM 'community' does not exist. ACP has been the try and nth as result.
