Ok, so I was bored...

I've added "disconnected" board tiles to Sjaak (limited to 4, but in priniciple I could extend that as long as the total number of squares does not exceed 128) and extended the move tables so that I can play moves from/to them. Needs testing though, which must wait until tomorrow.

Playing it without an interface (XBoard can't play Omega, can it?) won't be entirely nice although Sjaak is perfectly usable from the commandline.

Daniel Shawul wrote:@Jorge, I think we will be arriving at similar formats in the end. The format used by the engine seems to be a contracted FEN.

Code: Select all

ww/crnbqkbnrc/pppppppppp/10/10/10/10/10/10/PPPPPPPPPP/CRNBQKBNRC/WW w KQkq - 0 1
You can see that the FEN is strictly meant for omega chess not for the alien version we are discussing. Note that I used * to include unplayable land and there is a reason to it. If HG wanted to support this variant , then he only needs to support bigger boards. But the idea is to remove the need to go through this process next time you dig up a variant like this one :)

A DanOmegaChess could possibly play in the near 2630 just like in this match

Do you have a perft. I realized the pawns can move 3 steps on the first moves.

You are correct here is the Omega Chess rules of how the pieces move and capture, but not for the new advanced Omega chess.

I didn't know you were that enthusiastic about it :). You know what , I will give you for free. Just give me a week to test and check everything. I would be ripping you off if I took that offer, and there are better people who deserve that than you :) . But I appreciate it anyway.
cheers

Here, you are bumping a thread to answer an older post and reiterate whatever issue you both have. I think we should give it a rest, and the rest of the forum is certainly interested in moving on.

The thread is locked.
