I've heard good things about this emacs, but does it come with a decent editor?Don wrote: Those fancy IDE's are for sissies. I use bash, make, gcc, gdb and the emacs operating system![]()

Hi Fermin,
are you using the Code::Blocks nightly builds? They are pretty stable (I myself have never had a problem) and quite improved since the latest official release, mainly in debugger use.
I would give it a try, if you search something lightweight, functional and easily portable (e.g. on a pendrive).

The idea is not that codeblocks was bad, but only that I wanted to experiment with something new.
In last 24 hours I have reading a lot about tips and tricks for codeblock, like change the langauge to spain, automatic hide of the log window, special syntax highlight and so on.... all this is doing I like to continue with CB, and as you say, it is quit portable and lightweight. Also installing the last nighty build and it run perfect.
I have discover also the tool to export and import setings, which is something I missed, but it was there. So now I can carry my configuration the others computers I programm.
Best regards
A note for those who like debbuging capabilities, CB is excelent....

Nice suggestion, I had missed it, too (and I'm right about to switch to a Win7 machine). Thanks!Kempelen wrote: I have discover also the tool to export and import setings, which is something I missed, but it was there. So now I can carry my configuration the others computers I programm.

A shame that the IDEs you use for men who have no MP support.Don wrote: Those fancy IDE's are for sissies. I use bash, make, gcc, gdb and the emacs operating system![]()

I encourage all of you Windows 7, Visual C + +, and Intel Compiler,
After the commercial or not, you all programmed for windows.
And dream of sissy.

Re: What is your favourite IDE?
I use Codelite. Eventually I compile with make+gcc. But often I just want to do a simple code modification, which doesn't require an IDE and an integrated debugger, so I just use gedit for that (then make).Kempelen wrote:Hi,
I have been developing with Codeblocks+mingw for a long time and am looking into another IDE, just for alternatives because I am a little exhausted of it and the fact that release updates take years to appear. What are your recomendation? what is your environment and how do you configure it?
I have installed Dev++ but althought in help does not show last update date, it seems is discontinued for a long time....
regards.

Linux + bash/make/gcc + a good IDE (or VIM or Emacs and gdb if you're a real pro)

My joking was about IDE's, not a Linux vs Windows comparison.
