I don't understand the pairings. It would make more sense if Hiarcs would have been paired with Spark (winner vs winner).

Anyway, interesting matches for the 2nd round.

Best,
Carlos
I'd have thought so too, but the pairings are handled by the GUI.

Yes, I know. I think there are 3 types of pairings in ChessGUI, which one are you using?

ChessGUI Pairing Type 1 - uses the algorithm of ChessGUI author.

Thanks for the info. I think this has to be with the bonus point system, where matches between engines with big elo difference are avoided, even if they have the same points.

I haven't entered ELO values for the engines though. Perhaps Matthias might explain what happens if he reads this.

It is wonderful to know that milions games and error bars are out of here. :D
Let me have a error bar or a second live or a bonus live.
Maybe, I can't be friendly, but let me be useful.

When I set up the tournament, I listed the engines in order of strength (except for Bright and DeepSaros, which came in to replace Delphil and Bagatur).
The pairings would take that into account, but I didn't add Elo ratings.

Graham, you are right. The Elo racing is finished. You can show a new way, a sense for computer chess in play.

That is true. I wonder what went wrong. Will investigate.
Maybe we will have to switch pairing types on-the-fly.

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

For this problem there are "swiss accelerated" or "swiss double accelerated" system.
